https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

"Every individual person that buys into cryptocurrencies needs to do their own research. You hear this all the time, but that is the truth of the matter. If you're going to put your money in, you should really understand what you are buying. You need to understand all the ways it could go right. You need to understand all the ways it could go wrong. You need to be completely willing to go along for the ride."'"Laura Shin

Distributed Dialogues is a collaborative show between the Let's Talk Bitcoin Network and Distributed magazine. In each episode we introduce you to people who are using blockchain technology to change the way we interact with the world around us.

Since the start of 2018, there's been increasing attention paid to how journalism is practiced in the cryptocurrency and blockchain technology space. Because of the youth and relatively small size of the space, drawing clear ethical lines has been grey. It can be argued that the pace of the industry's news cycle favors publication speed over accuracy. Also, the nature of covering a new type of asset class, can breed an environment for sensational journalism that, in the worst cases, becomes complicit in enabling give-away scams. How journalists maintain ethical integrity within this environment is still more art than science.

In this episode we will hear from two journalists, Laura Shin and Aaron Van Wirdum, about how they see and think about the ethics of their profession. In between, we will hear a sponsored interview with Jarrod Dicker, CEO of Po.et., a decentralized protocol for content creators to use for ownership and the monetization of creative assets.
