Hi again.
After a week of battling sinister thunderstorms in the Midwest '" and a slog of a trip that included an airport ramp evacuation due to a tornado, multiple flight cancellations, and of the flights that actually went, not a single one was on time, bleh '" I found myself at home not writing another community roundup, but battling some computer malaise instead. Linux is dead. Long live Linux.
But here we are again, against all odds. Better late than never, eh?
LTB member Shawn asks whether micropayment channels are feasible for freelance work. Using micropayment channels with multisignature wallets, or "nLockTime" '" i.e., part of a transaction that indicates the earliest time or earliest block when that transaction may be added to the blockchain '" would enable a freelancer such as Shawn to perform work without having to worry about getting paid in the end.
New LTB member "hcf27" asks questions about starting a new podcast and becoming a part of the LTB Network. Adam is quick to provide answers:
- To start things off, send a draft or pilot episode to Adam (adam@letstalkbitcoin.com).
- The podcast length should be at least 25 minutes.
- The audio should be in .mp3 format.
- Before signing on sponsors, make sure you review our sponsor TOS.
Welcome, hcf27, to the LTB community, and good luck with the show!
Speaking of new shows, long-time listener, first-time podcaster '" on the LTB Network that is '" John is already on his second episode: SAFE Crossroads #2 Daniel DaBek and the Future of Commerce. Check out The Crossroad of Project SAFE, a website "dedicated exclusively to the technology, applications, ideas, people and news surrounding the SAFE Network, the first completely grass-roots internet with Secure Access For Everyone, where Privacy, Security and Freedom are native to the network design."
Earlier this year, our long-time LTB member Robert was voted in as one of three Counterparty Foundation community directors. Along with his FoldingCoin project, and various tasks as community director, Robert has found the time to put out a weekly XCP update, currently running its third episode. If Robert's weekly update is not enough, you can find more news regarding Counterparty assets by visiting XCP Assets.
Our Editor-in-Chief, Adam, just started the LTB Disruptive Book Club. Oprah, you better watch out. So far the club is on the open forum, but should eventually involve some '" per Adam's words '" "token controlled wackiness." Both fiction and nonfiction are a go for launch. Currently suggested titles include:
- The Master Switch
- Snow Crash
- By the People
- Conversations on Collapse
- The Age of Cryptocurrency
- Readme
- The Starfish and the Spider
- Thieves Emporium
- The Unfoldment
If you've already read one, some, or all of them, let us know on the book club thread and "let's talk books!" Hey, that sounds like a name of a show. Hmmm. ...
Finally, some numbers. I love me some big data! Over the past 30 days:
