What should I build?

We’re interested to see apps which highlight new use cases for Bitcoin, making bitcoin easier to use for wider audiences. Your app can be bitcoin-focused, or it can use Bitcoin technology to power the user experience. At a minimum, bitcoin and/or blockchain technology should be an essential part of your application, but your app is not required to be a payment application. For more ideas on what to build, please see this blog post.

What is the evaluation criteria and who will judge?

Criteria:

  1. Creativity: Does your app explore a new use case for bitcoin? Is it unique and innovative?

  2. Usefulness: Does your app make bitcoin easier to use?

  3. Execution: Does your app work?

Judging:

Entries will be judged by a team of Coinbase subject-matter experts, along with guest judges Adam Draper (BoostVC), Chris Dixon (Andreessen Horowitz), Fred Wilson (Union Square Ventures), and Gavin Andresen (Chief Scientist, Bitcoin Foundation).
