We have seen several different types of bitcoin users emerge over the past few years, with many more likely on the horizon. The four main types of people using bitcoin on Coinbase today are:

People who want a cheap, fast, global online payment experience

Some people are frustrated with the user experiences offered by traditional consumer payment products. These people use bitcoin on Coinbase to send cheap, fast, global online payments because of the superior user experience we offer.

People who want access to a new suite of consumer payment applications

Some people want access to new consumer payment applications like micropayments, cross-border payments, and peer-to-peer lending. These people use bitcoin on Coinbase to access a new suite of payment applications that was not possible before Bitcoin.

Some people believe in bitcoin and recognize the potential value appreciation of a scarce digital asset that is required to access an efficient, global payment network. These people use bitcoin on Coinbase because we offer the most secure way to buy, sell and store bitcoin.
